An introduction to how we got here, why it’s not our fault, (but still addressing our uncomfortable individual and collective responsibilities ) AND some beautiful possibilities.
A thought provoking post indeed, thanks for sharing. I love how you named the uncertainty and nervous system wobbliness of this moment, and still reminded us we’re actually right on time.
I’ve been reading Adyashanti, and he keeps pointing to the same thing for me… that this moment is the work, not some future, calmer version of life.
Different words - but the same feeling of not being behind… and actually being right on time - as messy as it all seems. 🦋🦋🦋
I love Adyashanti! And yes! THIS moment --even when we want to rush through and get to another one that's more pleasant! Liminal times like TODAY (the exact midpoint between winter solstice and spring equinox) and this world between worlds that we are currently inhabiting, feel messy like that bug soup phase of the chrysalis. But there is no other way to get to spring/butterfly/more beautiful, kind, just, sustainable world than through this portal!
This is so thought provoking! As a fellow magical thinker, I have hopes for an abrupt shift to the current trajectory but change is hard and it's clear that a a dramatic change to the nation is necessary. I will keep thinking about chrysalis and your excellent point about the caterpillar feeling as if death is imminent.
Thank you, Hilary! I don't think there will be an abrupt dramatic change, (although doubtless there will be many dramatic surprises that will shift things). Much like the season that we are in (the midpoint between winter and spring) and with the metaphor of the bug soup stage between the caterpillar and butterfly, change IS happening. Like the unseen seeds germinating under the Earth, that time of preparation needs to happen before blossoms or butterflies! It's hard to be patient during these liminal times (especially when circumstances look really grim) , but I really do believe we are right on time.
